Renting with children is often challenging. Many property owners will not come right out and deny you because of the kids, but they could locate a different reason so they don’t discriminate against you for having children. If you’ve small children, it is a great idea to spell out that you do monitor them constantly. Adults who smoke with small children are high risk at anytime. Kids who locate a lighter and want to try out it start more fires. If you smoke the chances are, a property owner might not rent to you for that reason, but also as they do not want anyone smoking in the house or apartment. E cigarettes can be used instead in most cases, though.These are some things to remember when searching for a place to live.
If you’ve children, some homeowners may request an extra sum of money towards the security deposit. This is still, refundable if there is not much that is wrong with the apartment or house when you leave. It is always a good idea to keep a watchful eye on children when renting so that little does happen that needs repair. As long as you have enough room for the children and yourself to leave well, renting may be just as comfortable as owning. You do however need to have sufficient room as called for by law when renting with children. This may be an issue if you’ve 3 to 4 children in a small three bedroom apartment or house.
If you rent an apartment or house and have older children who return to the nest, you would be wise to talk about it with the property owner before they ascertain. They may raise your monthly rent to hold for the extra person on the premises. This is normal practice, as you are the only one on the lease at the time of renting the apartment. Older children that visit for a week or two are not considered living with you, but any more than that, you will need to consult with the property owner before problems arise from another person living on the premises.
